Nikuzushi Ebisu Yokocho

I love this place! Whenever I have any friends visiting Tokyo, I bring them here. In particular, there is one place that only cooks mushroom dishes, and it might be my favourite place to eat in Tokyo, even though it can get a little pricy. It has a very lively traditional/retro atmosphere here, and there's always some guy playing a guitar somewhere. It can get very crowded so it's best to get there early if you don't want to stand around waiting for a seat.

It's quite surprising that you find a long stretch of bars along this alley behind the entrance. I definitely couldn't tell from the outside. It's loud and everyone is kind of hanging around in different shops and having small chats. Was told this is a meeting area of either gender to hang out and mingle around. Food and drinks are alright but really cramped area especially if you are coming in a big group of 5 and more.

Gets very busy later at night and the seating is quite tight so would recommend getting there earlier to get your choice of restaurants. It's definitely a good experience to try in Tokyo although not exactly cheap.
